T20 champion team

Both the teams from RRCC were looking forward to the encounter in the finals. There was an hours delay in the start of play due to the presence of dew on the ground. Tigers won the toss and chose to bat - things did not start the way they wanted as they lost their in-form opening batsman Santhosh in the second over to Awais. In came the run machine Zubair who along with Pavan started to take control and they went on to put up a partnership of 110 runs within a span of 11 overs. Both the batsmen ran aggressively between the wickets and did not lose any opportunity to score on the bad deliveries.

After setting the foundation, Zubair in an intent to score aggressively stepped out to hit Basit over mid wicket but got stumped to a good delivery - Zubair compiled 55 runs off 37 balls hitting 4 boundaries and a six. Usman Shuja was the next batsman in and his focus was mostly to put Pavan on strike and then to pounce on the loose deliveries. By this time, Pavan took things into hands and started playing aggressively scoring over 10 runs every over. Usman got out on 22 off 13 balls which included 3 boundaries. That brought in Humayun while Pavan from the other end was continuing in his merry way before finally getting out on 98 off 51 balls which included 6 boundaries and 4 sixers. Humayun then finished the things off with a couple of big hits. Tigers finally ended their innings on 203/4 in 20 overs.

Having to chase a daunting task Lions had no choice but to start hitting from ball one and that is exactly what Majad did though the other opener Khurram failed to do any damage from the other end. Usman expectedly was fast and furious from the other end and did not give the batsmen any chance to score. Majid at no.3 could not stay for long and perished on 10 to a smart run out by wicket keeper Santosh. Majad trying to keep up with the run rate tried hitting over point of Usman's bowling and was caught safely by Shahzad, he scored 20 runs of 15 balls which included 2 boundaries.

The exciting batting pair of Fahad and Basit tried stabilizing the innings and at the same time tried to score aggressively. Basit was blasting everyone off the park and he made a quickfire 45 of 23 balls which included 3 fours and 2 sixres before getting caught excellently at deep mid-wicket by Mahmood on the bowling of Zubair. Fahad quickly followed Basit to pavilion as he was bowled by Zubair on 20 of 23 balls. Awais chipped in 24 off 17 balls before being bowled by Santhosh, but the ask was just too much by then. Finally Lions ended their innings at 156/8 in their stipulated 20 overs.

Tigers won this game convincingly to clinch the title. Captain Pavan was awarded Man of the Match for his winning knock. Congratulations to RRCC on a superb season.
