It was a cloudy and cold morning with a relentless wind that lasted all game. Panthers won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Lions sent out Majjid Zubair and Syed Abdul Nadeem to open. They both provided a good platform for the Lions. Majad Ahmad was sent in 1 down and scored 45 runs. Some good catching by Ahmed Qureshi took 2 wickets away from the Lions. Rizwan Shuja kept the run flow down with some accurate bowling. Majjid Zubair and Majad Ahmed put on a 50 run partnership stand. At the 15 over mark Lions were 76-2. Niril Patel, Basit Zubair and Awais Mubarak accelerated the Lions score with some great shots which included a sensational scoop over the keepers head, excellent running and extras bowled by the bowlers. Lions ended with 184-8. Ali Taseer and Ahmer Ameen were the pick of the bowlers having taken 2 Wickets a piece.

With the weather remaining the same (minus the clouds) the Panthers sent Jawad Dhakkan and the in-form Uzair Rahim. Uzair hit a couple boundaries and got the Panther off to a great start. Majad Ahmad took three top order wickets to put the Panthers in a tough position early. Ahmer Ameen and Rizwan Shuja re-built the innings for the Panthers. Some good disciplined bowling kept the Panthers to 66-3 at the 15 over mark. After the break catches by Zulfiqar Ahmed and Syed Abdul Nadeem set the Panthers back in their chase. The Panthers required 100 runs from 9 overs. Some great wicket-keeping by Fahad Aslam resulted in a catch down leg side, and an amazing run-out put the Panthers in a very tough position. Panthers were all out in 22.4 overs after a LBW decision from Majjid Zubair’s bowling.

Lions won by 92 runs. Man of the Match was Majad Ahmad for his brilliant 45 and 3 wickets.
