CTCL 2008 Fall T20 tournament:Summary of Week 4 (Aug 16th and 17th)

Summary of games played on Week 4 (Aug 16th and 17th)

Group A
Gladiators at Falcons: Falcons won by 7 wkts. Batting first, the Gladiators scored 138 in their 20 overs. Pradeep Patra top scored with 47. Amit and Paris were amongst the wickets for the Falcons with 2 wickets each. In reply, the Falcons got off to a great start with Majad pulling and launching a couple of quick boundaries. Zubair then took over and top scored with an unbeated 60. Amit chipped in with 20. For the Gladiators, Kranti and Vijay R picked up a wicket each.
Man of the match was Zubair Hussain for the Falcons
Official reports from the game were that the quality of umpiring for the game was the best that has been seen in recent times 

Lagaan at Alamo: Lagaan won by 4 runs. Batting first, Lagaan scored 130 in their 20 overs with Jay top scoring with 41. Rohan scored a useful 34 off 20 balls and his hard running between the wickets combined with some lusty hitting gave Lagaan a good score. Sunny K was the pick of the bowlers for Alamo and claimed 2 wickets. In reply, Alamo scored 126 in their 20 overs. Imtiaz P top scored for Alamo with a fighting 57. Razee chipped in with a useful 15. Ram G was the pick of the bowlers for Lagaan with 3 wkts for 25.
Man of the match was Rohan Kotian for Lagaan

Points situation: With the Eagles and RRCC having a bye-week this week, only 4 teams were in action this week in Group A. Falcons and Lagaan improved their points totals by adding 4 pts each. Falcons are in the top spot, followed by Lagaan. Gladiators follow with 8 and RRCC is at 8. Eagles and Alamo look to open their points accumulation soon.


Group B

Titans at Warriors: In a thrilling last over game, the Warriors won against the Titans by 3 wickets. Batting first, the Titans scored 146 in their 20 overs with Ajay top scoring with a brilliant 50. He was ably supported by Charan who scored 27. Madhu, Vijay and Sunil were amongst the wickets for the Warriors with 2 wickets each. In reply, the Warriors scored the required runs in exactly 20 overs for a last-ball finish. Vijay top scored for the Warriors scoring a brilliant 51* from the lower half of the batting order.
Man of the match was Vijay Shankar for the Warriors

ACC at Hawks: Hawks won the game. ACC batted first and scored 126 in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Qasim top-scored for ACC with 35. Hemanth, Shafi and Divyesh were amongst the wickets for the Hawks with 2 wickets each. Hawks scored the required runs – with Ceto top scoring with 36 off 23 balls and Gordon scoring 27. For ACC, Riaz and Amer were amongst the wickets with 2 wickets each.
Man of the match was Ceto for the Hawks.
The ACC Captain, Amer Gilani, has recognized the Hawks Capt for fair play during this game. He noted that Hemanth was a real gentleman during the game and was very accommodating and helpful during the game. Congratulations, Hemanth. And thanks to Amer for recognizing a fellow player.

Spartans at Knights: Knights won by 8 wickets. Batting first, the Spartans scored 126 in their 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Karthik and Gautam were amongst the runs with 27 and 23 respectively. Manoj and Praveen were amongst the wickets with 2 wickets each for 27 and 18 respectively. In reply, the Knights scored the required runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 13.1 overs. Sunil Sudhakar scored a breezy 45 in 24 balls and Nikshep scored 43*. The Knights earned a bonus point as well for this victory.
Man-of-the-match was Sunil Sudhakar for the Knights.

Points situation: Hawks lead the Group B table with 12 points followed by the Knights with 9. They are followed by ACC and the Warriors with 8 each. The Spartans are 5th – with 4 points. The Longhorns and Titans are looking to open their accounts. (Note: Longhorns have not played a game as yet)

Notes:

There were 2 umpiring no-shows for the games last weekend. Alamo and ACC did not send their umpires and hence will be losing points.
All teams are requested to please make sure to send their Umpires from their clubs when they are scheduled. In addition to losing points, it makes the games that are being played a bit more difficult to run without neutral umpires. We hope that there will be no more No-shows from any teams – including Alamo and ACC.
